EUROPA FC clinched the Gibraltar Premier league title in the final match of the season to bring to an end Lincoln Red Imps’ 14-year dominance and give them their first title win in almost seven decades of trying.
Lincoln beat third-placed St Joseph’s to keep the pressure on Europa but they held their nerve on Sunday afternoon beating fourth-placed Glacis United 2-0 with goals from Liam Walker and Kike Gomez.
The ‘Green Machine’ have qualified for the Champions League next season. Their last title success was in 1952 before it merged with College Cosmos. However, the club re-emerged in its own right following the decision to grant Gibraltar membership of UEFA.
