THREE Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastic Association girls have qualified for the British National Development championship to be held in June.
In early April elite girls from Under 8 to Junior went to Canterbury, Kent, in the UK to compete in the Zone A qualifications.
This competition is where the Gibraltar gymnasts go to achieve their relevant grades so that they can progress to compete at the development championships. The three gymnasts who took part were Thea Cawthorn, Nyah Galia and Kylie Gaivizo.
In Grade 4 Thea with her sassy freehand routines came second and with hoop was placed fourth giving her an overall third place.
In Grade 6 Nyah competed with ball and freehand and had a great competition. Nyah was placed fourth for her freehand routine and ninth for her ball routine, finishing 10th overall.
Kylie also competed in Grade 6, with ball and rope, and was placed 13th overall.
Meanwhile, in the Grade 9 (2nd year junior) competition, Mie Alvarez competed with ball, clubs and ribbon and put in solid performances in both to finish 16th overall.
In the pre-grade section, Lilli Murphy did herself proud with a freehand routine that earned her second place.
Lilli came fourth with her rope and an outstanding third overall. Well done to the youngest member of the GRGA squad.
